Import is a way to start an editable draft, not a promise to reproduce another document perfectly. Text extraction and section detection can misread columns, dates or unusual headings. Review the draft before it becomes the version you will send.
Choose a suitable source
Use a selectable-text PDF, an ordinary Word document or plain text. The import interface states the applicable size and page limits. Image-only scans do not provide ordinary text to extract, and Nepocore does not transcribe them with an OCR service.
Open the import review
Choose Bring my resume on the homepage or Import in the workspace. The file is processed locally. Inspect the extracted text and the proposed sections before accepting the new draft. Avoid importing an unfamiliar file just to test the tool.
Check the fields that fail quietly
Confirm the name, email, phone number, employer names, job titles and dates. Column layouts can mix supporting text with experience. A heading such as “Selected appointments” may need manual reassignment. Restore missing bullets from the original rather than inventing their content.
Choose a new layout after the text is right
Import does not preserve every font, table or page break from the source file. Pick a Nepocore template, organise the sections and inspect the page preview. Uploaded photos or complex formatting may need to be added again.
Keep the original and a clean backup
Save the original document until you have checked every imported section and the final export. Download a JSON backup for future edits in Nepocore. Read the backup guide for device changes and shared-browser precautions.
Sources and context
This guide combines original examples with instructions for the implemented Nepocore editor. For general career-writing principles, consult Harvard’s career-services resume resource. Requirements differ by recipient; follow the actual application instructions.
Try the workflow
