An internship application should show what you are learning, what you have already tried and how that relates to the placement. You do not need to make student work sound like a senior job. Clear scope and an identifiable contribution are enough to begin.
Read the placement brief
Look for the programme, study stage, practical skills and dates the organisation requests. Include eligibility details only when relevant and accurate. Save the submission instructions alongside your draft so you can check them again before sending.
Lead with the strongest recent evidence
Education often belongs near the top when it explains your preparation. Include the qualification, institution and expected or actual completion date. Add a few relevant modules, then give a substantial project its own entry if it demonstrates more than the module list.
Include practical work from different settings
Part-time retail, family business support, volunteering and student societies can demonstrate reliability or communication. Label the setting accurately and choose the tasks that connect to the internship. Avoid implying a formal title or paid role when neither existed.
Keep the document easy to inspect
Use a professional email address, working portfolio links and readable section headings. Leave out irrelevant personal details. A short document is often easier to review, but do not shrink the body text to meet an arbitrary page count.
Use an education-first template
Start with Graduate and move Projects into the position that best supports your application. Read the no-experience guide for a fuller evidence checklist and how to label qualifications.
